10 Great Places to Skate Outdoors - According to Google

Here's where the almighty Google says you should go, it's not a bad list actually.

Ice Safety

3" is generally accepted as safe ice depth for skating - but skate at your own risk as many factors such as what type of body of water, and weather conditions.  Ice depths at different parts of the body of water may also vary, so it's important to check multiple areas of the ice before skating.

Is The Ice Thick Enough?

There's no better way to check ice-depth than being on there and measuring yourself, but if you are far from the skating spot and want to know whether it's safe to skate before making the drive, Lake-link is a great resource for checking the depth of ice on US lakes.

Help Improve This List

With your help, we can make this the most comprehensive list for hockey players and skaters everywhere!  If you'd like to share your favorite spot with the hockey and skating community, simply send us an email and include the location or google map link, along with your name and whether you'd like to be credited (e.g., submitted by Jason S.). Please note indoor rink locations will be accepted for destinations in warmer climates only.  Indoor rink/arenas will only be posted for locations where outdoor ice is unavailable.
